About Us

A school where children
thrive as whole human beings

Gatha Waldorf Learning Centre was founded in 2024 in the heart of EvoGreen City, Dehu — a green, sustainable township developed by Orange County Group. We bring the internationally proven Waldorf philosophy to Pune, rooted in the Indian cultural context.

Our curriculum weaves academics with the arts, develops practical skills, and honours each child's individual pace of development — with no standardised tests in the early years and a deep respect for childhood itself.

Why Waldorf

An education built for
the whole child

Waldorf education nurtures intellectual curiosity, artistic expression, and practical skill — preparing children not just for exams, but for life.

Developmentally Attuned

Every lesson is crafted to match the natural rhythms of a child's growth — honouring where they are, not rushing where they aren't yet ready to go.

Arts-Integrated Learning

Painting, drawing, music, handwork, and eurythmy are woven through every subject — not as extras, but as essential paths to understanding.

Strong Community

Parents, teachers, and children form a living community of learning — where festivals, seasonal celebrations, and shared stories bind everyone together.

Rooted in Nature

Set within EvoGreen City's green surroundings, Gatha brings children into daily contact with the natural world — gardening, outdoor play, and seasonal living.

No Tests, No Pressure — Just Deep Learning

Waldorf schools don't rush children with standardised tests in the early years. Instead, teachers observe each child's development carefully — building confidence, imagination, and love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

Our Community

Where Learning Lives Beyond the Classroom

At Gatha Waldorf Learning Centre, the community is not a backdrop — it is the very fabric of education. Parents, teachers, and children form a living whole, bound by seasonal rhythms, shared festivals, and a deep commitment to the full flourishing of every child.

Teachers & Teacher Training

Our teachers are not merely instructors — they are artists of education. Each one undergoes rigorous Waldorf pedagogical training grounded in Rudolf Steiner's understanding of child development across the three seven-year phases of childhood.

  • Trained in Waldorf pedagogy through recognised programmes
  • Deep grounding in developmental stages: imitation, imagination & reasoning
  • Class teachers accompany their students from Grade 1 through Grade 12
  • Ongoing professional development through SIWKA & affiliated bodies
  • Many teachers are parents themselves — bringing lived understanding
  • Low student-to-teacher ratios for individualised attention

Annual Celebrations

Community life at Gatha is punctuated by two landmark events each year — the joyful Gatha Jallosh Mela and the artistic Gatha Abhivyakti year-end presentation. Both weave together students, families, and the wider community into shared experiences of beauty, culture, and creativity.

  • Gatha Jallosh Mela — Community festival of craft, tradition & arts
  • Gatha Abhivyakti — Year-end artistic showcase rooted in Vedic theatre
  • Cultural festivals across traditions throughout the school year
  • "School Away from School" outdoor learning journeys
  • Parent-teacher collaborative evenings and story circles

Signature Events

Two Celebrations That Define Our Year

These gatherings are more than events — they are expressions of who we are as a community.

Annual Community Festival

Gatha Jallosh Mela

A vibrant community festival celebrating India's living heritage of craft, storytelling, and the Waldorf philosophy of head, heart, and hands. Families, artisans, and children come together in an immersive day of discovery and joy.

The Torchbearers of Tradition Weaving, spinning & carving — directly from master artisans
Tantalising Tales Storytellers using puppets, native languages & physical theatre
The Mystic Mandrel Hands-on workshops embodying head, heart & hands philosophy
Glimpses & Gifting Gallery Student classwork exhibition and handcrafted items by children

When: Annual — held each school year

"The greatness of a community is measured by the compassionate actions of its members."

Year-End Presentation

Gatha Abhivyakti

The year-end artistic showcase where students present their learning through the ancient Indian science of theatre. Drawing from all four Vedas — music from the Samaveda, movement from the Yajurveda, text from the Rigveda, and rasa from the Atharvaveda — Gatha Abhivyakti is a deeply moving celebration of growth.

Music & Song Instrumental performances and choral singing from all grades
Drama & Movement Theatrical pieces and dance rooted in Vedic theatrical tradition
Poetry & Recitation Students speak with presence, timing, and courage before the community
Interactive Performances Games and playful elements bringing families into the celebration

When: End of each academic year

Cultivates teamwork, courage, precision & mutual appreciation in every child.

"The healthy social life is found when in the mirror of each human soul the whole community finds its reflection, and in the community the virtue of each one is living."

— Rudolf Steiner
